These two awards represent the values that matter most to us: our guests’ experiences and our commitment to sustainability.
Both the Travelers’ Choice Award and Travelife Gold Certification are meaningful to us because they’re earned through real experiences and measurable impact. One reflects the kind words and recommendations from our guests, and the other recognizes our commitment to sustainability through independent assessment and international standards.
Together, they tell the story of what Koh Jum Beach Villas stands for: authentic, responsible travel that prioritizes people, planet, and a genuine connection to place.
Our renewed Travelife Gold Certification is an internationally recognized certification that reflects years of dedicated work, team-wide commitment, and the sustainable values that guide every decision we make.
What is Travelife?
Travelife is a globally respected sustainability certification for the tourism industry. It assesses businesses across hundreds of criteria, covering everything from energy, water, and waste management to human rights, fair employment, biodiversity protection, and community engagement.
To renew our Gold status, we had to show action in several key areas:
- Minimizing environmental impact – from reducing carbon emissions to tracking our energy, water, and waste usage across the resort
- Protecting biodiversity and ecosystems – including pesticide-free landscaping, mangrove protection, and reef-safe operational choices
- Sustainable procurement – prioritizing local, ethical, and environmentally responsible suppliers whenever possible
- Supporting local communities – with over 80% of our team hired locally, ingredients sourced from nearby farmers, and partnerships with small, family-run businesses
- Fair labor practices – providing fair wages, training, safe working conditions, and an inclusive workplace for all staff
- Animal welfare – respecting and protecting wildlife through ethical tour partnerships and policies that prevent animal exploitation
- Responsible waste management – including composting, refillable water bottles, and reducing single-use plastics across operations
- Transparency and stakeholder engagement – maintaining open communication with staff, guests, and suppliers via annual reporting, clear sustainability guidelines, and feedback channels
- Crisis and emergency resilience – having protocols in place to minimize risks, respond effectively to emergencies, and ensure guest and staff safety
