What is the weather like on Koh Jum?

Note: The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s newly branded 'Green Season' is being promoted as a good time to travel; fewer tourists, quiet beaches and cut-prices. Some days have heavy winds and rain, other days are picture perfect and calm. Rarely does it rain all day.
What is the main industry for the island’s residents?
Fishing and rubber tree plantations and more recently, tourism.
Religion?
Most of the local population on Koh Jum is of Muslim faith. Their faith is gentle and has no fundamentalist overtones. The minority religion is Buddhism.
What is the beach like in front of the resort?
The beach is a long stretch of gold sand in both direction and with hardly a soul on it for most part; it feels like your own private beach. During low tide, the water is set back opening up the beach for walking and exploring the many rock pools and marine life that inhabit them. Perfect for the kids! Medium to high tides are perfect for swimming. There are two complete tidal cycles per day.
How close is the beach?
All villas are either beach front or within tropical garden (only 75 metres from the beach). All villas have beautiful sea views.
Do we need to bring beach towels with us?
We provide pool towels, however we ask you not to take them to the beach. Please use beach mats provided.
What facilities are available for children?
Children enjoy the abundance of space – in the villas, on the beach, in the tidal pools at low tide, swimming in calm waters at medium to high tide and of in the swimming pool that is safely treated and gentle on the eyes and skin. Special bedding and high chairs for children are available upon request. Please communicate your needs at time of booking. Children who are not yet using the toilet are required to wear proper swim nappies.
What is there to do in the local area?
Activities in the local area includes: kayaking, snorkelling, hiking, boat rides, bicycling and bird watching.
Are the villas self catering?
Yes, food is not included in the rentals. You will find fully equipped kitchen and a restaurant on site.
Where can I do grocery shopping?
There are little shops in Koh Jum village, which is about 20 min walk from KJBV. We offer shopping service to ensure essentials items are in the fridge for your arrival.
Is the maid service included in the villa rental price?
All our villa’s rental prices include basic maid service: beds made each day, with change of bedding every 3rd day, towels and house keeping.
Is there a laundry room for washing?
No, however our house keepers can do laundry for a reasonable fee. Please note that everything is washed by hand and hung to dry, so allow 24-48hrs turn around time.
Are all villas equipped with air-conditioning?
As an eco-friendly resort we do not offer air-conditioning. All villas have been designed for maximum air flow, all rooms have ceiling fans and natural breeze.
Is there mobile phone reception on the island?
Yes, mobile phone connection is very strong. If you want to make international call from your mobile, you can purchase a Thai sim card and credit from management.
Is Wi-Fi available?
WI-FI Internet connection is available on KJBV. Internet is not otherwise widely available on the island.
What plugs and adaptors are available, and what is the voltage?
Thailand’s voltage is 220-240Ac, 50 Hertz. The plugs in Thailand are not standardised, there are at least 3 different types, some two pins and three pins. (European and American 2 pins plugs are adaptable)
Are there restaurants near by?
Urban Café is our on site restaurant and is independently run by a Thai family. There are also several restaurants near by along the beach.
Is there any night life in Koh Jum?
Night life is not exactly the reason for you to come on Koh Jum. However during high season there are plenty of charming bars to visit on the island.
Is there a minimum stay?
We only accept bookings for a minimum of 3 nights.
Is there a discounted weekly rate?
Yes, all our villas have discounted rates for booking over a week.
We are celebrating an occasion, can KJBV helps us organise it?
Yes, our English-speaking management will be pleased to organise small party.
Is tap water safe to drink?
The tap water is good for everything except drinking. Kjbv provides drinking water in recyclable glass bottles. Please note, plastic bottles are not allowed in KJBV.

Yes, and more! Eco-tourism appeals to ecologically and socially conscious individuals. Generally speaking, it focuses on minimizing the negative aspects of mass tourism on the environment and enhances the cultural integrity of local people.
